ABOUTUS
Our Corporate Home
is based in San Antonio, TX, across the street from the
Alamo. From its vintage-1893 historic building, the corporate staff
supports our corporate clients and partners, sales to research institutions,
marketing, systems management, and Help Desk requirements.
Our business strategy is to partner with companies who dominate key distribution
channels for our portfolio of products. The company outsources manufacturing
and packaging, as well as some distribution. We outsource to strategic
partners the majority of our design engineering, IT and software programming,
graphic art, and special technology consultants—who have supported
MedSignals’ development efforts for six years— as fulltime
outsourced talent.
MedSignals was first developed by LIFETECHniques, a privately-owned R&D
incubator that invents and tests technologies to help people self-manage
difficult health behaviors.
Our Leadership
This woman-owned business was founded by Vesta
Brue who is the CEO of MedSignals. The concept for this innovative med-minder
began in 2002 when Brue won a grant from National Institute of Allergy
and Infectious Disease to build a smart pillbox to remind HIV/AIDS
patients when to take pills consistent with their highly complex regimens.
She envisioned the MedSignals product line, secured seed funding through
six subsequent grants from National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling
over $5-million, outsourced industrial designers, oversaw prototype fabrication, conducted
five clinical trials to date, and attracted a world-class team. Brue
remains majority owner of the company. She holds one awarded patent
and one pending for MedSignals. Brue holds an MBA degree from Harvard
Business School and a B.A. in journalism from Kansas State University.
Brue is active in healthcare business circles in both San Antonio and
numerous national organizations. MedSignals is the second among
her award-winning innovations. Previously she invented a
smart cigarette case to stop smoking, SmokeSignals, which provided
much of the technological platform used by MedSignals.
Jerome Hahn is Chief Technology Officer of MedSignals and President of LIFETECHniques, the founding company. A mechanical
engineer by training, Hahn has led the product’s industrial designers,
electronic engineers, and manufacturing teams to bring MedSignals from
concept to the marketplace. He is well suited to the position having held
prior roles as a management consulting Partner at KPMG, where his specialties
were supply chain, manufacturing, product design and systems architecture—skills
that serve the diverse needs of our company.
Hahn joined the company
in 2002 to prepare SmokeSignals for its commercial launch and
has continued through MedSignals’ introduction. He holds a BSME
degree from Santa Clara University.
